Thank you for your interest in my practice, and Upledger CranioSacral Therapy (CST).
I welcome your questions, whether you're a new client, a returning client, a referring provider, an instructor / teacher, or are simply interested in CranioSacral Therapy.
A few things for everyone to know:
ALL CST is performed fully clothed. You are welcome to wear comfortable clothing or change into comfortable clothing upon your arrival for our session.
CST is typically performed with clients lying supine (on the back, face up). A 3-inch memory foam pad lines the massage table for added comfort, and a table-warmer is available warmth. If you are unable to lay comfortably on your back, we can discuss how to modify the session for your comfort.
Verbally, during sessions, I follow the client's lead 100%. If the client has a question or wishes to talk or chat during the session, that is the client's prerogative. If the client doesn't speak, I follow that lead. Because of this, many sessions are performed in silence. This option typically augments the therapeutic effect for clients, allowing clients to drift into a deeply meditative therapeutic state of consciousness during sessions.
Some frequent questions asked during typical 15-minute consults:
* Can CST help my condition?
* How can CST help with the therapy I'm receiving or the surgical procedure I'm scheduled to receive? (e.g. PT, OT, speech etc)
* How can CST help with the hormonal / inflammatory / digestive / anxiety / pain / or other issue I'm experiencing?
* How can CST help with my behavioral health/ emotional health issue, diagnosis, or condition?
* How long before I know if this therapy will work for me? (spoiler alert, you'll know after your first session)
New clients and anyone with questions about CST: I offer a complimentary 15-minute consult over the phone to discuss your need for craniosacral therapy, and answer your questions. Prospective clients, I inquire about the issue or injury that concerns you and offer you the option to schedule a session. Please know there is no obligation to schedule if you feel that CST would not be a good fit for you, or if you would like time to consider scheduling.
Returning clients, welcome back! It's great to hear from you. Please reach out to me via phone, text or email to schedule a session.
For instructors, teachers, group leaders, team leaders.
Including yoga instructors, Pilates instructors, corporate team leaders, support group leaders, team coaches,
Would you like a complimentary introduction to CranioSacral Therapy for your class, group, team, practice, or other gathering?
I offer a presentation about CST, to provide information about this modality, how it works, and what it can address. In that presentation, I provide general information about CST and my practice, and can speak to a specific intention, condition, including how CST can complement the modality you teach or practice.
Some examples of past CST presentations include yoga classes, wellness practices, health clubs, Whole Foods locations, lactation consultants, Pilates classes, breastfeeding support groups, other support groups, medical school students, massage classes, acupuncture classes, churches, temples, parents at youth groups, and more.
Essentially, I’ll chat about CST with anyone who wants to know more.
Referrals from Medical providers - including general medicine, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, OB/GYN, respiratory, endocrinology, nephrology, oncology, immunology, otolaryngology, audiology, geriatrics, pediatrics, ETC.
In some cases, including a session or two of CST in a patient's therapeutic process can help to improve a treatment outcome, and lessen complications for surgical procedures and other medical conditions. I invite you to contact me with questions about indications for CST, and how that approach looks depending on the patient's diagnosis.
Referrals from Behavioral Health providers
Psychotherapists, psychiatrists, clinicians, and those who address BH needs: I consider BH management a vital facet of health and wellness, and often advise clients to add a BH therapist or provider to their current provider team if they don’t already have one.
CST can complement BH therapy by helping to down-regulate physical symptoms of “activation” that may be triggered during BH sessions, and in life. Symptoms of “activation” can occur generally in the body, in an extremity, or in a specific anatomical structure (e.g. stomach, head, or heart), and can show up as pain, numbness, tingling, heaviness, or any other physical symptom triggered by the psychological process.
Referrals from physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, chiropractic providers, massage therapy providers, acupuncturists, Rolfers, etc.
I invite you to contact me directly with questions, to discuss indications for CST, and how CST can complement your specialty or modality. Additionally, I network with local providers, and would be happy to add you to my referral network if your modality can work effectively with CST.
